Julian Jaynes (1923­) is a research psychologist and lecturer at 
Princeton University. He was educated at Harvard, McGill and Yale 
universities. His 1978 book, The Origin of Consciousness in the  
Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind,  won him a National Book Award 
nomination.
